Why you might feel ‘needy’ during the full moon in Cancer

Let’s say “bye-bye” to this crazy year by using the energy of its final full moon (in Cancer).

Things to do during the full moon in Cancer

The full moon in Cancer occurs tomorrow at 3.28am (UK time) and it’s the perfect time to let go of any hostility, regrets or resentment – which I’m sure we all have a LOT of after the 2020 emotional boa constrictor that squeezed us for dear life.

But, we got through it. We’re still here; we’re still surviving. We’re taking each day as it comes and, by clearing out any unwanted mental baggage, we’re moving into 2021 as prepared as we can be. That’s all we can do, so let’s try hard to not put unnecessary pressure on ourselves to over-achieve in 2021. Maybe just getting through it day by day is enough for some of us at the moment.

What does the full moon in Cancer mean?

This full moon is in the watery sign of Cancer, which focuses on our emotions, family, home and intuition, among other things. We may find that we feel a bit more sensitive and needy (because 2020 thought we were all getting a bit too chilled :P) Take time to really analyse what you are feeling at the moment. Find a quiet space, take a few deep breaths and spend time checking your body and mind for any tight spots or pressure points. Why do you think they are there?

During this Cancer moon try not to be too defensive or prone to hiding your feelings behind a tough façade. Let things out. You can’t go into 2021 as your authentic self if you are still pretending to be okay when you are not. It’s okay to let the rawness show sometimes. No one is perfect, and you’ll probably find a weight is lifted from you when you stop the pretence. I know I have.

I constantly tell people about my faults; some might think that’s a weakness. I don’t. I find it liberating and I hope it helps others to feel better about themselves (because trying to be perfect is exhausting!).

Take stock of your 2020 achievements

You’ll have achieved so much this year and I’m willing to bet you haven’t realised it because it will be buried under all of the not-so-nice things that have happened as a result of coronavirus. Take some time to acknowledge your successes. In March, did you think you would have been able to survive months of not seeing people and losing much of what gave you security? Well, you got through it and you still are. That’s not a small achievement – that’s huge!
