Why the Sagittarius full moon makes you playful

And things you can do during it.

After this year’s joy-sapping events, the full moon in Sagittarius will bring us huge relief.

How will the Sagittarius full moon affect you?

Cheerful by nature, Sagittarius is fun, friendly and eager for life’s opportunities. If you need a pick-me-up then step into this lunar energy around the time of its peak on 26th May at 12.13pm (UK time).

With the Sagittarian “explorer” effect upon us the travelling bug might bite you. Although lockdown has flexed its restrictive muscles there is still plenty to discover. Why not walk somewhere new, visit a café you’ve never been to or research places you’d like to visit once we can travel again?

Have you been a Negative Nancy lately? Don’t worry optimism will now be in the air. Sagittarius has an enthusiasm for life and is happy-go-lucky by nature. It’s a good time to see the best in people and yourself – mute the sad music at your pity party for one and put on a new upbeat jam. This sign is linked to the hips – get them moving, dancing or exercising.

Sagittarius’s visionary outlook is another lovely trait. It’s open to anything. Use its far-seeing tendencies to chalk up your life goals and assess where you want to go and what you want to pursue. With such positive vibes floating around you will be more likely to believe you can achieve them.

This isn’t just any full moon this is a Sagittarius total lunar eclipse super full moon!

Wow! Sounds impressive, doesn’t it? But what does it mean? Well, a super moon is when the moon is at perigee (as close as it can be to earth during its monthly orbit). This means it will appear larger than normal in the sky. Some people feel that the moon’s effect is stronger because of its closer proximity.

Lunar eclipses happen when the earth blocks the sun’s light from hitting the moon. They trigger a critical turning point in your life and jolt you back onto your soul’s true path. (Only if you choose to accept the nudge, of course.) Eclipses can be challenging but they open up portals that allow us to change our life’s course. Surely that can only be a good thing?

Unfortunately, the lunar eclipse won’t be visible from the UK, but you can see it elsewhere in the world.

If you fancy watching a live stream of it happening then head over to the Time and Date website.

Things to do for a Sagittarius total lunar eclipse

  • Your wanderlust is being ignited. This makes it a good time to book or plan for a holiday or go on an excursion.
  • Sagittarius rules over learning so finish a course or expand your knowledge.
  • Use the visionary energy of this sign to assess your long-term goals. Get them down on paper.
  • Spend time imagining and feeling optimistic about achieving your goals.
  • Explore your sense of purpose. Think about what lights you up.
  • Expand your horizons. Do something spontaneous. Experience what life has to offer (taste new foods, join a new club, do something that scares you).
  • Try not to be too blunt.

Sagittarius full moon things to watch out for…

During this moon phase, the onus is on freedom and exploring. You may find you feel trapped and restless if you can’t do what you want. Try to manage your expectations of what you can achieve. For example, if you work 9-5 in an office then you’re unlikely to be able to roam free in the meadows all day. If you feel frustrated by this then promise yourself you’ll go for a walk in nature once you finish. Or plan ahead and take a day off.

Also, because it’s a lunar eclipse, your emotions may be amplified and you might feel impulsive. Try to think rationally when making any big decisions.

Crystals for a Sagittarius full moon

  • Smoky quartz
  • Amethyst
  • Blue lace agate
  • Labradorite
  • Malachite
  • Ruby
  • Lapis lazuli

N.B. This is an eclipse so many people don’t like to leave their crystals out to charge as is the norm at a full moon. I’d go with your own gut instinct on this one.

Sagittarius full moon affirmations

“I am open to new beginnings.”

“I am optimistic and believe I can achieve my goals.”

“My life is full of opportunity and adventure.”

“I embrace new things.”

“My life is filled with joy and fun.”

“I release whatever does not lead me to my dreams.”

Release what no longer serves you

As with all full moons, the focus is on forgiveness and releasing what doesn’t serve you. If you set any intentions at the new moon then look back on them and consider if you should let any of them go.

Also, reflect on whether you need to forgive anyone for anything (including yourself!). When we harbour grudges it takes up space in our emotions. If we release the negativity then we make room to welcome more positive things into our lives.

Make a list of everything you’ve felt ashamed about, anybody you’ve felt anger towards, any times you’ve felt jealous, anyone who’s wronged you… and so on. Then carefully burn the list to release the energy into the ether.
